Travel eSIMs have hit the point where "which provider is best" isn't really the useful question anymore. Saily gets rated the best all-round package pretty consistently — clean app, reliable partner networks, and bundled VPN and security features the others mostly don't bother with.
Where it really wins is price per gigabyte at long-tail destinations, exactly where everyone else's pricing starts climbing. If you want one dependable app at a sensible price and you don't need unlimited, this is the easy recommendation.
Nomad: predictable regional trips
Nomad's regional and global plans with flexible top-ups solve one specific annoyance — having to buy a new plan every time you cross a border. For a European trip through four countries, that's the right structure.
One warning. Nomad doesn't do unlimited, and its bigger allowances vanish faster than people expect. Fifty gigabytes sounds like plenty right up until navigation, photo uploads and a tethered laptop have eaten it.
Holafly: short trips, unlimited data
Holafly's unlimited plans make sense for stays of about three days or less, when what you want is to stop thinking about data rather than to get the best speed or price. Stretch it over a longer trip and the economics stop working against metered plans.
The mistake most people make
Buying by brand instead of by trip.
One country, one week? Any major provider's country plan is fine. Several countries? Buy a regional plan — it beats stacking country plans almost every time. Very short trip? Unlimited saves you a decision. Long stay in one place? A local provider will usually undercut every global eSIM brand, though you'll give up some app polish and support quality.
